You can give the people you love wonderful gifts, without going into debt or going over budget. It just takes some planning and creativity.

One of the most important tips for finding gifts that are less expensive it to keep an eye out all year. I remember one year I was shopping in Costco and found the perfect gift for each of our family members - in May! All under $30 each. My motto - Buy it, Hide it and then don't forget it!

Family and friend photos make great cheap Christmas Gift Ideas, Take photos throughout the year at family events, vacations, holidays and birthdays. Find older photos and scan them in.

What to do with them:

• Calendars - with your photos
• Photo frames - check dollar stores or buy in bulk
• Albums, collages
• Print and digital scrapbooks
• Screensavers - Do one and give to every member of your family. Copy to a CD, label it and wrap it.

What about a Vintage Gift?

Search out the Thrift Shops, or Yard Sales for "vintage" items. Keep an eye out for items all year long. Just because you are shopping in July doesn't mean that the perfect gift can't be bought and kept for your son or daughter. Just make sure you hide it well!

Many people donate items to second hand shops that have come back into style, take advantage of this.

Look throughout the year for items that your teenage niece might be dying for!  Many times manufacturers donate left over stock to charity shops. Who knows you could find the perfect designer coat for your teenage daughter.

Antiques can be found in yard sales and flea markets, look for original items in good condition, you might just find the perfect first edition of your Uncle Toms favorite book!
