Things to Consider Before You
Eliminate Credit Card Debts

Eliminate Credit Card DebtsThere are things you need to consider before you eliminate credit card debts, or any debts for that matter. Let's be serious here, life will be different. You will need a plan. There is no point in trying to pay off your debt without a well defined and crafted plan.

But before you create your plan, take a look at some of the things you should consider while working on paying off your debt.

One thing that people don't think of when they are working to eliminate credit card debts, is that you don't have to do it alone. Find a buddy, family member, friend or support group to work with. There is strength in numbers, and it won't seem so lonely or daunting when you are working with others!

Some things to remember while you are creating your plan to eliminate credit card debts:

Commit to the Plan

You will need to commit to your plan, and follow it every day until your debt has been paid off. It doesn't matter how great your plan is if you don't follow it or stick to it.

Just like a lifestyle change. You can have an exercise plan and nutrition plan (I don't like the word diet!) that is the greatest and promises to get results, but if you don't follow it or stick to it then it is worthless!

Must be Practical and Easy

Your plan for paying off debt has to be practical and easy to do. If you make the plan too restrictive and crazy then you won't follow it. So make it work with your life and responsibilities.

In fact create a money management plan that fits with your life. One which includes paying off your debt quickly and easily.

Include Everyone Effected by the PlanEliminate Credit Card Debts

Remember, that if you have a spouse, partner or anyone else that will be affected by your eliminate credit card debt plan - they must buy into the plan.

If you do it all alone - then demand those effected by it to follow it, chances are that they won't follow it, or resent you for it. So work together. Make a plan that works for everyone, where everyone feels ownership of it and understands what your goals are.

If you have children, explain to them what is going on and why you are creating this plan - there are always learning experiences in involving your children and teenagers.

Be Clear "Why" you are Reducing Your Debt

Your "Why" you are reducing your debt, is just as important as the "how" are you going to reduce your debt.

Are you saving for a house? Your kids education? Are you tired of being stressed out?

Really think about and be clear why you want to become debt free. Write it out and post it to your fridge, bathroom mirror or wherever you will see it often. If you are more visual then find a picture that represents your "why" and post that. This will keep you going through the tough times.

You Will Pay More than the Minimum Balance

Money ManagementNo matter what your plan must have you pay more than the minimum balance on at least one of your credit card's or other debt. The minimum balance is not enough to pay off your debt quickly and easily. They are designed to add interest to your balance. Your Life will be Different Then it is Now

There is no point in kidding yourself. Life as you know it will be different. Not necessarily harder, just different. Getting out of debt may mean that you will have to reduce your spending, eat your meals at home more, or take steps to increase your income.

It may be hard at first, but with the proper motivation and plan in place you can make it really easy! Just keep your reason "why" you are reducing your debt in the forefront. When you feel frustrated, get back in touch with your "Why" and it will make the harder times easier.

There is a Light at the End of the Tunnel

While you are working on and fulfilling your "eliminate credit card debt" plan, things may seem tough at times. Just remember there is light at the end of the tunnel. Thousand of other people have done it - so can you!

So now you know what to consider when your start to eliminate credit card debts, take the next step and create your get out of debt plan.
