Grocery Shopping TipsGrocery Shopping Tips. Shopping for groceries is something we cannot avoid. Unfortunately, prices keep on rising. But the good news is, there are many ways on how you can cut the cost of your weekly grocery shopping without having to cut down on basic items. Clarky Davis of The Debt Diva shares with us her tips that you can easily start doing at home. Here are some of the tips she mentioned in the video: Save a month's receipts and review your purchases. Highlight those incidental purchases like the magazine you just picked up while waiting for your turn in the queue or the unhealthy snacks that you munched on while going home. This will make you more aware of where your money goes. Browse through weekly supermarket's circular and newspapers for coupons that you will need. Cut them up and store them in different envelopes. You can also work your meal plans around the sale items for you to save on grocery shopping. Make a shopping list before going to the store. Buying items on sale and using the coupons you've cut up from newspapers, you will be able to save a lot. Check the items in your pantry before leaving. This will help you avoid buying things you don't really need which you will most likely end up throwing away. Purchase a week or two week's worth of grocery items with just one trip to save on time and gas.
Shop on a Sunday evening. By this time you have already checked the papers for coupons and you don't have to worry about long lines. If you are hungry, don't shop. This can make you give in to impulse buying easily. Shop at discount grocery stores especially for basic items like milk. Walmart and other discount retailer can be a good place to buy your cleaning supplies and paper products. For fresh produce, check out farmer's markets. While you are still in the parking lot, spend some time to review your receipts for missed discounts and mistakes. It will be more inconvenient to find these when you are already back at home and chances are you won't bother going back to the store. Continue on to How to Save on Groceries, the Advanced Video.
