The Total Money Makeover is the New York Times Best Seller
written by Money Guru and radio talk show host Dave Ramsey.
What I love about this program is that it is simple and
straightforward. He is more of a preacher than a financial analyst.
He puts the money in layman's terms.
Check out this video of his steps of his program. The
total video is about 30 min and each segment is about 2 1/2 min. He takes you
through what his program is.
He has testimonial after testimonial about how his program
worked for people. He doesn't promise quick solutions, he offers a bold,
no-nonsense approach to dealing with your money.
Dave Ramsey deals with hope and your beliefs about money. He
exposes the dangers of certain money myths and shows you how to get out of debt
and stay out of debt. I love his quote:" Winning at money is 80 percent behavior
and 20 percent knowledge.".
Most importantly, Dave Ramsey has been there. He went through his own bankruptcy
and debt issues, so he knows what it is like to be his readers. I have recommended the Total Money Makeover to many people. But
as with any other program, the only way it works is if you read it, then work
it.

Dave Ramsey provides practical tools for you to use in
your plan.
He has an incredible amount of testimonials on his
website and throughout his books.
He has an amazing "no-nonsense" approach
to dealing with your money.
He provides a variety of budgeting templates that you can use
with your
money management plan
He wants you to take baby steps. Not take everything on
at once.
He is intense about helping you and that you take action
and help yourself.
What I Don't Like about Dave Ramsey's Program
Sometimes the "Christian Overtones" are too much. I don't I have no problem
with religion, but sometimes I feel that he brings it into his teachings a
little bit too much (Having said that I have noticed lately that they aren't
what they used to be)
His math doesn't always add up. His debt snowball method is great, but I
prefer to pay less in interest in the long run. He prefers to get momentum
going. I think that with his plan you would pay more in interest.
He makes mention to his other products a lot - i.e. his radio show and other
books and programs...this is fine but sometimes it gets a bit much.
